You asked, we answered. Our fan favorite Old School Cheesesteak and Fries are back at Charleys Cheesesteaks for a limited time only in 2022.
After making its debut in 2021, the Old School quickly became a favorite menu item for longtime Charleys fans and new guests alike. After we retired the Old School in early 2022, we quickly heard from guests that they wanted to enjoy the Old School all year round. So, the Old School Cheesesteak and Fries have been re-released for Fall 2022 with some delicious adjustments.
What comes on the Old School Cheesesteak and Fries?
The Old School is a back-to-basics cheesesteak. Guests can choose between USDA choice steak or all-natural white meat chicken (guests will get an extra helping of whichever protein they choose), sauteed onions, melted Kraft CHEEZ WHIZ® Sauce, and optional hot pepper relish on a toasted roll. The Old School Fries come with original fries, extra steak, sautéed onions, melted Kraft CHEEZ WHIZ® Sauce, and optional hot pepper relish.
What’s different about this version of the Old School Cheesesteak and Fries?
We made some changes to our secret (or, not-so-secret anymore) recipe. This time, we’re allowing guests to choose between steak or chicken as their meat. When the Old School debuted, it was only made with steak. This was a glorious choice for beef fans, but we wanted to include chicken lovers this time around. The Old School Fries are made with steak only, just like last year. We also added optional hot pepper relish for an little kick of spice!
Ooh – what’s hot pepper relish?
Our new hot pepper relish is a blend of diced sweet, tangy, and spicy peppers. For the Old School Cheesesteak, the hot pepper relish is grilled with the meat and sautéed onions to infuse the flavor throughout the sandwich.
How spicy is the hot pepper relish?
The new hot pepper relish has a kick, but it’s not too spicy and even tastes a little sweet. If you like hot pepper jelly, this is a great topping for you. If you’re not a spice fan, we suggest requesting your hot pepper relish on the side so you can sample it before adding it to your cheesesteak. The Old School Fries always come with hot pepper relish on the side.
